Barcelona know they risk upsetting Gerard Pique if they agree to meet Samuel Umtiti's new contract demands.

As the summer market edges closer, Barce are facing a crunch decision over whether to upgrade the France defender's deal or allow him to leave, with his current contract carrying a 60m buyout clause. Manchester United and Real Madrid are both in contact.

Bust-ups & barnies: Why Luis Enrique the 'culture shock' Arsenal need

COMMENT: Luis Enrique and Arsenal? This is going to be fun. The players may be talking 'culture shock' with a first managerial change in 22 years. But if it is to be Enrique, they ain't seen nothing yet...

Appearances. Reputation. They can deceive. Especially when forged away from the English media. And in the immediate aftermath of Enrique's departure from Barcelona a year ago, potrayals of his management had him closer to Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte than Pep Guardiola and his mooted predecessor, Arsene Wenger.

United want to win everything next year, says Wembley hero Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez conceded he has struggled since joining "big club" Manchester United from Arsenal in January but wants to repay Jose Mourinho's faith after inspiring his side to a place in the FA Cup final. Man of the match Sanchez headed a 24th-minute equaliser against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday before Ander Herrera's strike after the hour sealed a gripping 2-1 semi-final win. The Chile international joined United in a headline-grabbing switch during the last transfer window despite being heavily courted by Manchester City and has only scored twice in nine Premier League appearances for his new employers "In truth it's been very hard for me, coming to a big club," he said, with a turn of phrase that might not go down particularly well in the red areas of north London. "It changed everything so today I'm really happy, for the team, the goal and for the attitude we showed throughout the game." Huge performance from this man today. Find out why @Alexis_Sanchez was #MUFC's Man of the Match: https://t.co/fpIeY2dMhx pic.twitter.com/aBgtNxTSYQ — Manchester United (@ManUtd) April 21, 2018 Mourinho challenged Sanchez to keep doing the basics well to take his game to new heights following victory over Spurs and the 29-year-old revealed both men have taken time to adapt to their new working relationship. "He is a coach who demands a lot, and when we lose he gets very angry," Sanchez said, indicating that Mourinho's irritation in the wake of the 1-0 defeat to Premier League basement boys West Brom last weekend was not merely for show. "We need those kind of demands to get the best out of us. He asks me to play a free role, to enjoy myself, to attack, defend - to do everything! "It's been difficult this season, I think next year we have to go for it. It was a tough change for me, the coach told me to speak with him, he's not used to bringing in players in January. "It's been demanding but we hope to win the final. I have come here and I want to win everything next year with this team and with the coach." An expertly directed finish beyond Michel Vorm from Paul Pogba's delightful cross means Sanchez now has eight goals in as many appearances for club and country at England's national stadium. "It brings me good luck, I've scored a lot of goals here with Chile, against England, with Arsenal and now Man United, now I have another final to look forward to here," he added. "It was great to win with Arsenal, and now with United, I demand more of myself every day and I am happy with the game and with the team. "It was a great pass from Pogba, when the ball was in the air I wanted to hit it to the far post but then I saw the goalkeeper go the other way so I changed to the near post to catch him off balance."

West Ham Fans Hype Up Potential Signing of West Brom Star as Transfer Window Approaches
West Ham fans certainly seem like they'd be fine with the Hammers signing West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez when the Baggies go down at the end of the season. The side are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and have little hope of climbing out. And with their stay in the top flight all but over, holding on to their better players in the summer could prove a very difficult task. Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon, in particular, seem likely to leave the club at the end of the season,...

Don't panic, says captain Kompany
Don't panic, says captain Kompany
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is adamant the team's recent struggles are not a cause for concern. City have lost their last three games, getting dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool and going down 3-2 to Manchester United despite holding a 2-0 half-time lead. Pep Guardiola's men were among the Champions League favourites before their 5-1 aggregate defeat to the Merseysiders, while a win over United in the derby would have secured them the Premier League title against their bitter rivals. For some, those defeats have taken the gloss off City's remarkable season, but Kompany is certain there is nothing to worry about, as they prepare to face Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday. "I have been part of very successful City teams, but it was never at the end of a dominant season that we were able to win a title," Kompany told Sky Sports. Some might say, we will find a brighter day. Thank you for your amazing support tonight pic.twitter.com/5Xe3zf9KQC — Manchester City (@ManCity) April 10, 2018 "Now, we are not champions yet, but I would like to see it happen in the same fashion in the next few weeks as we have done all season. And that would be a first in my case. "This club has never stopped progressing, I do not think I need to say that, but even a defeat in the Champions League quarter-finals might seem like an incredible disappointment in this moment of time. "But I have seen us play in a very, very good way and I have seen us play against a team that has always been difficult for us traditionally, not just this year. "So there is nothing for me to be worried about the progress that this club is making, that this team is making, that this manager is making with the team. "And therefore I am confident, because the signs are there. It is not just me wanting to build some sort of image about us. You can sense it, you can feel it." City will become champions of England with a win on Saturday and a United defeat at home to West Brom on Sunday.

Simeone: Costa's best game since his Atletico return
Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone believes Diego Costa produced his best performance since returning to the club in their 2-0 first-leg win over Sporting CP in the Europa League quarter-final. It was an accomplished display at Wanda Metropolitano, where Atletico saw off the sloppy Portuguese visitors thanks to Koke and Antoine Griezmann on Thursday. Koke scored Atletico's quickest ever Europa League goal after 22 seconds having been teed up by Costa, while Griezmann was gifted the team's second late in the first half courtesy of Jeremy Mathieu. However, Simeone singled out striker Costa, who returned to Atletico from Chelsea in January. "This was his best game since he came back with us, he's a beast, he was running all the time, putting pressure on the opponent, breaking his mark," Simeone told reporters. "He participated in both of the goals, played great with the team, a very good game, his best game since he came back." TEAMWORK! Great work, lads!#AúpaAtleti #UEL #AtletiSportingCP pic.twitter.com/U8C65Z4z2d — Atlético de Madrid (@atletienglish) April 5, 2018 Simeone added: "Well the thing is that you can never take something for granted in these tournaments. We're used to seeing games in these kind of tournaments that should be calm but they're not because the teams are motivated and we saw that anything can happen in football. It's true that 2-0 is an important score but we need to play the second leg the same way we played here today. "I think that goal a few seconds after kick-off was the result of our will to go for the win from the first second. "We prepared in advance to put them under strong pressure and push them in their own half of the field. Because of our great pressure we scored two goals, we always tried to bother them when they had the ball, that made it easier for us. We did a great collective job, I think one of the best jobs this season." Despite taking a two-goal lead to Lisbon, Griezmann insisted: "I'm happy with the result, but we have to be on our toes because they're a tough team and we're going to have a difficult time in Lisbon."

Arsenal fans will return for Europa League tie - Wenger
Arsene Wenger has been troubled by the frequent sight of a half-full Emirates Stadium but is optimistic of strong backing from Arsenal fans in their Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow. Empty seats have marked recent Emirates Stadium matches as supporters demonstrate dissatisfaction with a campaign that appears likely to end without qualification for the Champions League for a second successive season. Winning the Europa League is the Gunners' last realistic hope of returning to the competition next term and they can strengthen those chances with a strong showing in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Thursday. Club great Ian Wright has commended Arsenal fans for the "positive step" of staying away from matches and Wenger accepts slumping attendances are a worrying trend, albeit one he believes will soon end. "I'm always concerned when our stadium is not completely full," the Frenchman told reporters on Wednesday. "But I don't think that will be a problem tomorrow. Our concern is the performance and the crowd will be behind us. "I think when something is at stake the crowd is always behind us." 2 - CSKA Moscow are one of just five teams that Arsene Wenger has faced more than once with Arsenal and failed to win against (also Fiorentina, PAOK Salonika, PSG and Port Vale). Bogey. pic.twitter.com/i2iKj6IzfD — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) March 16, 2018 Arsenal have been boosted by the return to fitness of Alexandre Lacazette as they attempt to reach the final four of a European competition for the first time since 2008-09. The France forward, who scored in the weekend win over Stoke City, is in contention to feature against CSKA, although Wenger was not prepared to reveal his starting XI. "Basically we have everybody available, I think," he said. "Lacazette is ready to start. I have not decided if he will start or not but he is available and ready to start." Petr Cech missed the win against Stoke but is available, although David Ospina typically starts for Arsenal in cup competitions.

Neymar to Real Madrid links 'nothing but hot air', insists Mbappe
Rumours linking Neymar with a move to Real Madrid at the end of this season are "nothing but hot air", according to his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappe. Neymar has only been at the Parc des Princes since PSG smashed the world transfer record to bring him in from Barcelona in August. But not long after his €222million move was complete, speculation connecting him with a return to Spain and Barca's bitter rivals Madrid started to circulate. Madrid have continued to be linked with the Brazil star – who is currently out injured – in the Spanish media, but Mbappe is adamant it is all just speculation. When asked whether Neymar might leave, Mbappe told Telefoot: "It's nothing but hot air. "Neymar sends me messages, gives me news. I wished him a good World Cup, but not to win it. MVP #PSGASM #ICICESTPARIS pic.twitter.com/EZD6OJo1YV — Kylian Mbappé (@KMbappe) March 31, 2018 "Of course, I have the goal of winning the World Cup. It's even a dream. If we progress well, we can achieve something." Mbappe's coach Unai Emery is expected to leave PSG at the end of the season when his contract expires, likely a consequence of the club's underwhelming performance in the Champions League for a second season running. Though Mbappe does not see the situation as cut and dry as some, he is adamant this has still been a good season as they march on towards the Ligue 1 title after lifting the Coupe de la Ligue on Saturday. "I'm not sure that Emery will leave, even if he is at the end of his contract," Mbappe added. "I don't know if he talks to the club. We'll see who will replace him if he leaves, but he is not leaving at the moment. "With PSG it's a good season, even if we failed in Champions League. It will serve us well for next year, I hope. We will never forget it, that's football. We simply didn't deserve to progress."
