Pardew seeks assurances from Man City and Arsenal target Evans
Newly appointed West Brom manager Alan Pardew is set to hold talks with captain Jonny Evans over his future at The Hawthorns amid reported interest from Manchester City and Arsenal. Former Manchester United defender Evans was linked with a move to Premier League giants City as well as Arsenal in the closing weeks of the transfer window. Evans remained at WBA but the Northern Ireland international is believed to be attracting interest again heading into January and Pardew – who was appointed on Thursday – is keen to speak to the 29-year-old. "I think the assurance I need is probably from Jonny more than anybody and I haven't met him yet," he said. "I'm looking forward to seeing him. I think he's a fabulous player and very important for the club so I will have a good old discussion with him." Evans has made 11 Premier League appearances this season, scoring once, with WBA 17th and two points above the relegation zone amid 10 matches without a win.

He was aggressive but complimentary – Redmond corroborates Guardiola claims
Nathan Redmond corroborated Pep Guardiola's claim that he was simply praising the winger's talents when the pair appeared to exchange words after Manchester City's last-gasp win over Southampton on Wednesday. City scored a late winner in the 2-1 triumph at the Etihad Stadium thanks to Raheem Sterling's stunning goal, but much of the attention after the match was on another incident. Guardiola was seen appearing to confront Redmond after the full-time whistle, acting aggressively towards the winger, which he later insisted was only him showing his admiration for the Saints midfielder. Reports began circulating on Thursday that Guardiola had actually aimed foul and abusive language at Redmond, who felt the need to step forward and corroborate the Spaniard's recollection of events. Just to clear a few things up for those wondering. Funny old game isn’t it. pic.twitter.com/xUSr99MVeE — Redz (@NathanRedmond22) November 30, 2017 He wrote on his official Twitter profile: "I've just seen this story and felt I had to say something and clear a few things that are floating around right now. "I want to make it absolutely clear that the Man City manager, Pep Guardiola, did not say what The Sun is falsely claiming in this story. "Yes, he was very passionate, intense and aggressive, but he was only very complimentary and positive to me. "He commented on my qualities as a young English player and how he wanted me to attack his team more during the game in a similar way to last season. "I told him I was doing what my manager had asked me to do in the game. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. "Nothing negative or offensive was said towards me from Pep and that's what makes him one of the best managers in world football. "Losing the game the way we did in the last kick of the game after working so hard for 90+ minutes I was very disappointed, but when one of the world's best managers compliments you or gives advice in any way, you listen. "Sadly this story is an example of lazy journalism and a complete joke. It does no favours to the sports journalists in the game that I like, happily work with and genuinely respect."

Sadio Mane and substitute Mohamed Salah were the standout performers as Liverpool overcame a stoic Stoke City 3-0 at the Bet365 Stadium. Stoke had their fair share of chances, but couldn't take advantage as a heavily rotated Liverpool side claimed all three points. The game opened with some good passing play from Liverpool, testing the Stoke City defence with Stoke keeper Lee Grant being forced to come and claim Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross. Juventus ran out eventual winners against Crotone on Sunday evening to keep pace with Inter Milan and Napoli at the top of Serie A. Juventus' start to the game seemed to characterise much of the first half; pedestrian football with the occasional hopeful 30 yard attempt. Summer signing Blaise Matuidi had a chance early on after Douglas Costa's mazy run into the box was latched on to by the Frenchman, only to see a wild shot blaze over and wide of the Crotone goal. This is my home - Messi wants to end career at Barcelona
Lionel Messi confirmed his desire to remain a one-club player with Barcelona after extending his stay at the Catalan giants to 2021. The Argentina legend ended a long-running saga by putting pen to paper on a new contract on Saturday, with the deal containing a €700million buyout clause. Messi had been linked with a potential move to Manchester City, while he has previously expressed an interest to finish his career in his homeland. But the four-time Champions League winner, who will be 34 when his latest contract expires, said he was "very happy" to remain with the club he joined as a 13-year-old. "For a long time we have been waiting to do the signature and today it was done," Messi told Barca TV. "I am pleased to still be connected to the club. As I always said, this is my home. "I always wanted to end my career here. My dream was to end my career with Barcelona and we are on track." Messi and his Barca team-mates have the chance to go seven points clear in LaLiga when they visit Valencia in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.  #Messi2021: The saga continues... pic.twitter.com/noSyNXhIKS — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) November 25, 2017

Messi has 'no doubt' about Real Madrid's Champions League chances
Despite the emergence of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi will not ignore titleholders Real Madrid among the biggest threats to challenge Barcelona in the Champions League. Following two successive scoreless draws away from home, Barca remain top of Group D, three points ahead of Juventus and with passage to the knockout phase already secured. Although Pep Guardiola's City and French giants PSG are the only two sides to claim five wins from the opening five matches in the group phase, Messi – the recipient of a fourth European Golden Shoe – will not discount Barcelona's eternal rivals. "City are one of the strongest teams at the moment with PSG," Messi told Marca. "So far, they have been the two teams that have shown themselves to be favourites, but this is a tough and very long competition. "I never rule out Madrid because although they are not having the results that everyone expects, I have no doubt that in the end they will be fighting for everything, as they do every year." The same logic applies to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, according to Messi. "Bayern are another big team that will also be there at the end, but it's true that today City and PSG are the best," the five-time Ballon d'Or winner added. Although the Champions League might be the ultimate goal, LaLiga leaders Barca have more urgent matters this weekend. They travel to face Valencia on Sunday, in LaLiga's top-of-the-table clash.

Bayern flattered to deceive during their 2-1 triumph in Belgium, with Robben forced off just after half-time.  The Dutchman has been a regular this season, playing in 11 of Bayern's 12 Bundesliga matches, but he will be missing for what is sure to be a tricky encounter against the fourth-placed side. Ben Yedder trolls Liverpool after dramatic Sevilla comeback
While there was no Champions League trophy on the line, Sevilla's comeback against Liverpool was reminiscent of the 'Miracle of Istanbul' as two-goal hero Wissam Ben Yedder trolled the Reds on Twitter. Liverpool were cruising at 3-0 in Tuesday's Champions League encounter in Seville until Ben Yedder scored twice in the second half to salvage a dramatic 3-3 draw. After Roberto Firmino's quick-fire brace and Sadio Mane's strike gave Liverpool a three-goal lead inside 30 minutes, Ben Yedder reduced the deficit six minutes into the second half. Ben Yedder struck again via the penalty spot on the hour-mark before Guido Pizarro equalised in the 93rd minute. Liverpool are no strangers to stunning comebacks, having erased a 3-0 deficit against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final as they eventually triumphed on penalties. And Frenchman Ben Yedder had some afterwards on social media, seemingly referencing Liverpool's famous night in Istanbul 12 years ago. Inter 2 Atalanta 0: Icardi brace sends Spalletti's side second
Mauro Icardi's second-half brace helped Inter seal a comfortable 2-0 win over Atalanta and climb up to second in Serie A. Argentina striker Icardi, who scored a hat-trick in a 7-1 battering of Atalanta in last season's corresponding fixture, was denied an opener by a smart save from Etrit Berisha during a mundane first half at San Siro. But Icardi would not be denied shortly after the break as he opened the scoring with a simple header to bring the home fans to their feet. Inter's captain came up with the goods again on the hour with another header to essentially put the game to bed and take his tally in a prolific season up to 13 league goals, two behind Serie A's leading scorer Ciro Immobile. The double ensured Inter took full advantage of Juventus' surprise 3-2 defeat to Sampdoria earlier on Sunday and Luciano Spalletti's side, who remain unbeaten through 13 matches, are just two points adrift of table-topping Napoli. 60' GAAAL!! Header + @MauroIcardi equals back of the net right now!! GET IN! #InterAtalanta 2-0 pic.twitter.com/OMd4stMw9t — Inter (@Inter_en) November 19, 2017 Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva threatened during a bright start from Inter, but it was the visitors who carved out the first clear sight of goal after 15 minutes. Hans Hateboer threaded a clever pass into the path of Josip Ilicic and the Slovenian's low drive was repelled by his compatriot Samir Handanovic at the near post. Inter were seemingly rattled and spent the next 10 minutes trying to regain their footing. When they did eventually settle back into their rhythm they should have taken the lead courtesy of Icardi. Borja Valero's flick through the middle released the Argentinian, who had brilliantly spun his marker, but his effort was too close to Berisha, who was able to get his leg to the initial shot and then scoop the ball up at the second attempt.  Five minutes before the interval, Icardi thought he should have had a penalty after being held back in his attempts to reach another dangerous cross, only for his protestations to be waved away by the referee. Icardi headed straight at Berisha moments after the restart, but he did not have to wait long to get on the scoresheet as he evaded his marker to head home Candreva's free-kick from six yards in the 51st minute.   | Perfect delivery from #Candreva on the free kick to bag that assist. #InterAtalanta 1-0 pic.twitter.com/3O1JW2BNxH — Inter (@Inter_en) November 19, 2017 The 24-year-old grabbed his second just nine minutes later, steering a superb header into the bottom corner from Danilo D'Ambrosio's right-wing cross.  Any hopes Atalanta had of finding a way back into the game were all-but extinguished by that goal, and Hateboer was on hand to prevent Icardi wrapping up his hat-trick from Perisic's fizzed pass, although the offside flag was raised anyway, as Inter comfortably saw out the three points.

Real Madrid have stockpiled the best young talent from across Spain, according to Atletico coach Diego Simeone. Ahead of their derby clash Saturday, Madrid and Atletico are level on 23 points in LaLiga – sitting eight behind leaders Barcelona. But Simeone paid tribute to his team's rivals, saying they were the world's best – and had all the talent to show for it. "We are going up against the team that is the best in the world, just as Barcelona were in their day," he told a news conference. "They've won two Champions Leagues in a row and won LaLiga last year. "Right now, they're better and they have taken all of the good kids from all of the different Spanish teams. "They keep making sure the others can't get to these kids. They have them stockpiled, but they have them." While he praised Madrid, Simeone believes his team – who are unbeaten in the league – can challenge Zinedine Zidane's men. "Since I arrived at the club, all of the derbies have been similar, so I don't expect it to be different to the previous ones," he said.
